She Nay Nay Updates

She Nay Nay

Way back on March 3rd, 2008, I did a write up on female wrestler She Nay Nay (Athanasia Alexopoulos).
Now all these years later I run into She Nay Nay wrestling for SHIMMER?
Is this the same lady?
I guess it is.

It looks like She Nay Nay has been wrestling since 2004, starting out with Border City Wrestling.
She's worked for wrestling promotions like Pure Wrestling Association, Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling, Universal Wrestling Alliance, Ohio Valley Wrestling, Derby Championship Wrestling, Hoosier Pro Wrestling and Irish Whip Wrestling.

She Nay Nay

She showed up in the United Kingdom as "Miss Anthea" and wrestled for All-Star British Wrestling and NCW Femmes Fatales.
She Nay Nay even made an appearance for the WWE, wrestling Beth Phoenix under the name "Jenny Brooks" in 2009 on SmackDown.
It's really kinda cool to do a profile on a wrestler like her, then see her work all over the US, Canada, Britain, Ireland and even tour South Korea.

You can see more pictures of She Nay Nay at Wrestling Wally's website here.

Wrestlin Wally's Wide World of Women's Wrestling

Okay, Now I'm gonna take a minute off doing entries on female wrestlers and do something I rarely do.
Gush about another site.
I have run into Wrestlin Wally's work now and then on the web, and I was delighted to see that he has his own wrestling website.
Its called Wrestlin Wally's Wide World of Women's Wrestling.
If you like really good, close up candid shots of the ladies of Indy wrestling, you really need to check him out.
We're not talking long distance fuzzy pics you can barely make out here.
This is really good, great even, close up pics and action shots.
Wally really needs to think about a "coffee table book" kinda like what Theo Ehret did.
Wally's work is not only good, but it captures the look and feel of these beautiful ladies plying their trade.
And no Wally's not paying me to write this...LOL.
But if you wanna read up to date info and see the latest pics of these beautiful ladies of wrestling, head over to his site.
And just think how much better the WWE Diva's section or TNA's Knockouts would look with Wally doing the pics.
So head on over to http://www.wrestlinwally.com/ and look around.
You won't be disappointed.

Sherri Martel. part 8

In the late 1990s, Sherri Martel worked on the independent circuit. Early in 1999, Martel competed in a mixed-tag team match for the AWF World Heavyweight Title (a men's title). Martel teamed with Squeegee Kid against Missy Hyatt and Ms. B Haven. Hyatt scored an upset and pinned Martel to win the title. In the summer of 1999, she appeared on the Heroes of Wrestling pay-per-view managing George Steele against Greg Valentine. Also in 1999, she was awarded the AWA Superstars Women's Championship.

In 2000, Martel made a brief return to WCW to wrestle Madusa and Mona, but turned down a long-term commitment. This was during the promotion's short-lived attempt at recreating a women's division. She was originally contacted to manage the newest incarnation of Harlem Heat, but due to a management transition the plans changed. Since she was already backstage, the promoters had her wrestle Madusa on the January 19, 2000 edition of WCW Thunder. She returned and wrestled Mona on the March 11, 2000 edition of WCW WorldWide. After the match, she and Madusa had a confrontation.

In 2002, she made appearances in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) feuding with Victoria and managing Rob Conway. In 2005, Martel appeared at "Wrestle Reunion" in an 8-woman tag team match (teaming with Peggy Lee Leather, Krissy Vaine, and Amber O'Neal wrestling against Wendi Richter, Bambi, Malia Hosaka, and Jenny Taylor). Martel's team was accompanied by Joyce Grable.

In 2005, she was married, and was on her honeymoon in Japan when WWE contacted her and asked her to take part in a storyline with Kurt Angle shortly before WrestleMania 21.

She made a return to WWE SmackDown! as part of the Shawn Michaels/Kurt Angle feud leading up to WrestleMania 21. There she sang a parody of Michaels' theme song with Angle, but a video showing Shawn's history moved Sherri emotionally. Kurt then saw this and applied the Ankle Lock to her.

She was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by Ted DiBiase on April 1, 2006. She and the rest of the inductees (excluding Bret Hart) made an appearance at WrestleMania 22 when they were each introduced to the crowd. She was accompanied by DiBiase during her appearance.

Prior to appearing in TNA, Martel turned down an offer from Jeff Jarrett to work a program with Trinity. The reason Martel turned down the offer (as well as the long-term commitment offer to return to WCW in 2000 to feud with Madusa) is because she did not want to put herself in the position to potentially travel back down the dark road that accompanies the physical and emotional stresses of professional wrestling .

On September 4, 2006, she worked for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, taping a backstage vignette trying to offer her managerial services to "free agent" Bobby Roode that aired on the September 21, 2006 TNA iMPACT!; it was her last television appearance.

On June 15, 2007, WWE.com announced that Martel had died that morning at her mother's residence in Birmingham, Alabama. Dave Meltzer stated on his Wrestling Observer Live radio show that Martel's passing was a result of a possible drug abuse, and that the case was still under investigation by law enforcement. On June 19, 2007, police confirmed that Martel did not die of natural causes, but foul play was not suspected. Based on what was known, Martel had gone to bed at her mother's home (where she was living recently) because she wasn't feeling well. Her husband found her unresponsive later that afternoon. Sherri's sister Vickie claimed Sherri died while drinking coffee with her mother on the front porch of her mother's home. Vickie suspected Sherri was taking some sort of medication/drug for her heart..

A cause of death for Martel was not initially known due to the autopsy and toxicology reports needing 5-6 months to complete, but on September 11 homicide investigators in Tuscaloosa, Alabama released their report stating that she died of an accidental overdose with multiple drugs in her system, including high amounts of oxycodone. The UK's Sun ran a story on the death of Sherri Martel entitled "Hillbilly Heroin killed Sherri." The article notes that the autopsy report on her showed six different drugs in her system at the time of her death. A lethal concentration of the powerful painkiller Oxycodone, also sometimes referred to as "Hillbilly Heroin," was discovered in her system.

Sherri was buried on June 28, 2007.

Sherri Martel. part 7

Back in WCW, at one point in 1995, it was planned for Sherri Martel to manage the tag team of Jean-Paul Levesque (Triple H) and Lord Steven Regal. The duo was slated to capture the tag team title with Martel as their manager and feud with Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner. The plotline was for Martel to turn on Harlem Heat during a title match but Levesque decided to go to the WWF despite offers from then-booker Eric Bischoff of working fewer days for more money.

At Clash of the Champions XXXI, Harlem Heat and Martel defeated Bunkhouse Buck, Dick Slater, and Col. Robert Parker when Martel pinned Parker. Martel hit her head on the mat and suddenly fell in love with Parker. At Clash of the Champions XXXII Martel and Paker were going to get married, but Madusa interrupted the wedding. She and Martel engaged in a catfight, and then wrestled in the first women's match on WCW Monday Nitro on January 29, 1996, where Martel pinned Madusa.

Martel was then fired in February 1996 for not being in proper condition to work at a television taping resulting from developing an addiction to prescription pain killers but cleaned up and returned to WCW by summer of that year, reuniting with Harlem Heat and even became involved in a catfight with Debra on an episode of Nitro. At the 1996 World War III pay-per-view, Martel defeated Col. Robert Parker by count-out. Martel left WCW in the summer of 1997.

Martel said in later interviews that working with Ric Flair was an honor (she considered him a friend and says she learned a lot from him), and she called Harlem Heat her "two big brothers" and she maintained a friendship with Stevie Ray and Booker T after leaving the company for the final time. The reason she left WCW in 1997 is because she was fired ("I pissed Eric Bischoff off and he pissed me off and that was just it."). However, during her WWE Hall of Fame induction speech, Martel thanked Bischoff. When the fans booed the mention of his name, Martel sternly reminded them that she was very grateful for Bischoff giving her a job in WCW.

Debra Ann Miceli-Madusa Part 5

Upon returning to World Championship Wrestling in 1999, Madusa's breasts were noticeably larger and greatly exaggerated in contrast to any other point in her wrestling career. Madusa later conceded that she had indeed gotten a larger, more prominent set of breast implants just prior to her return to WCW. In an interview Mark Madden of WCW Magazine conducted with her in the summer of 1999, Madusa candidly revealed her reasoning behind the considerably larger set of implants. Madusa stated that the larger, aggrandized breasts gave her much more confidence in herself. "I got those for me," Madusa said. "I wanted to embellish my own beauty, to give myself more confidence. When I got them, I was 5-10, 150 pounds and really, I had nothing. I looked silly. So I got them and I think they look good." On the otherhand, Madusa's augmentation had few drawbacks. Madusa was criticized by some people within the Internet Wrestling Community for the move as they felt as though that her breasts had become much too large and thus it affected her once-stellar in-ring capabilities for the worse. Due to their pendulous nature, her huge, oversized breasts (as evident by their unstable motions during her ring entrances in her final WCW stint) more often than not would easily jerk, shake, bounce, wobble and jiggle around nonchalantly and blatantly whenever she would walk, much less run.

Following the demise of WCW, Madusa confirmed on her official website that she had gotten a breast reduction. She had the implants removed in either 2001 or 2002. The biggest contributing factor to the breast reduction was not that she felt her breasts were much too large and pendulous, thus making it discomforting to her physical well-being. But considering that she was retired from professional wrestling, the implants were no longer necessary for her new line of work as a Monster truck driver where it wasn't essential for her to display her body in an overty sexual manner. Madusa has stated numerous times on her official website that she regretted getting breast implants in the first place. After the reduction, Madusa revealed her bra size to be a D cup (her size after post-reduction surgery).

Madusa's cosmetic surgery would factor into wrestling storylines on a second occasion while she was in WCW. In this case, attention was directed to the amount of plastic surgery that Madusa has legitimately had over the years in an attempt to demean and sexually degrade her. In on-camera interviews, a character by the name of Oklahoma would often poke fun at the amount of plastic surgery that Madusa has had over the years. It eventually lead to a catchphrase as Oklahoma would often say, "There ain't nothing natural about Madusa!" Madusa's cosmetic surgery was a central angle on one show in particular. On the February 7, 2000 edition of WCW Monday Nitro, Oklahoma brought out a doctor by the name of Dr. Jeter. Dr. Jeter claimed that Madusa was one of his clients and that he had done cosmetic surgery on her. Jeter claimed that he did a nose job, eye job, lip job, boob job, and even a buttock augmentation on Madusa. Madusa eventually came out and beat up both Oklahoma and Dr. Jeter. Ironically, Madusa came out in a very revealing bikini top in which her colossal, pendulous breasts were flailing and joggling around uncontrollably as she paraded herself in blatantly provocative manner down the entrance way. After she took care of business in the ring, a fan in the front row reached his hand out in an ill-fated attempt to touch her indiscreetly visible and lascivious breasts while she was leaving the ringside area. However, Madusa was aware of her surroundings and she proceeded to smack the fan's hand away before he could touch her cleavage. Madusa was legitimately angered from this person's attempt at sexual harassment. She proceeded to yell a few expletives and give the fan in question the middle finger gesture as she was walking away.

Debra Ann Miceli-Madusa

Miceli posed nude for Playboy in 1987 but never signed the release for the pictures to be published. The reason the release was never signed was due to the fact that she was scheduled to begin work in Japan. Since Japanese promotions had very strict rules governing conduct for female wrestlers at the time, Miceli opted not to have the pictures published.
Madusa was married to Eddie Gilbert in the early 1990s. After their divorce she married former NFL player Ken Blackman in the late 1990s and into the turn of the millennium. Things just didn't work out between them and they decided to go their separate ways.
She has homes in both Virginia and Florida.
Madusa drove a monster truck of the same name for Live Nation in their Monster Jam series, but was recently released over contract issues. On May 12, 2006 she announced that she had signed up to drive a Madusa truck for Team Bigfoot, beginning later in 2006. She currently runs a pet grooming service.

Dusty Rhodes referred to Miceli as "Methuselah".
Madusa is one of the first monster trucks named after its driver.
Due to her martial arts background, Madusa preferred to wrestle barefoot, a la Kevin Von Erich.

Debra Ann Miceli/Madusa Part 3

Madusa soon aligned herself with Evan Karagias after he came to her aid after she lost to Meng in a match on Nitro in October 1999. The two developed a romantic bond the very next week on Nitro as they let their affections for each other be known in an unusual match. During the match, the two didn't exactly grapple, but rather, they exchanged romantic pleasantries throughout the contest. For starters, Madusa felt up his chest, pinched his backside and batted his baseball cap off in a playful manner. Evan returned the favor by grappling her into some promiscuous wrestling positions and whispering sweet nothings into her ear - to her liking no less. At one point, a smirking Madusa backed him into a corner and attempted to seduce him by shoving her massive breasts in his direction. The match came to conclusion when she smothered him with a large kiss as she pinned him for a victory. Karagias didn't mind losing the match and he made her his manager. Madusa would help lead him to the WCW Cruiserweight Championship at WCW Mayhem 1999. Soon after his title win, Madusa became interested in Evan's Cruiserweight Championship belt.

Madusa earned a title shot at WCW StarrCade on Monday Nitro when she defeated Mona and Evan Karagias in a three-way match. Then at StarrCade, Madusa defeated Evan to become the first female to win the WCW Cruiserweight Title. Madusa had dumped Evan a week before the bout when she caught him flirting with Spice backstage. Spice became Evan's new girl and she was in his corner at StarrCade; however, Spice distracted Evan during his match with Madusa at StarrCade to help Madusa reign victorious. Spice them aligned herself with Madusa and she became her manager. The relationship only lasted about a month as Spice returned to her role as a Nitro Girl soon after.

Debra Ann Miceli aka Madusa

Though her reign as WCW Cruiserweight champion was short-lived, a few memorable moments took place nonetheless. On the January 10, 2000 edition of Nitro, Madusa inexplicably came out wearing a blue wig,and an ill-fitting bikini top, that had a difficult time containing her immense, pendulous breasts. Madusa's bizarre look was akin to a female Anime character come to life in that female Anime characters have colorful hair, curvaceous physiques and wear gaudy outfits. On this edition of Nitro, Madusa came out to tend to Asya after she was struck by Oklahoma with a bottle of barbecue sauce during a match. Oklahoma then struck Madusa from behind with a broom. And thus her feud with Oklahoma started.

Perhaps the most memorable moment of her reign as Cruiserweight champ took place in an evening gown match with Oklahoma on an episode of WCW Thunder on January 12, 2000. Madusa easily defeated Oklahoma by stripping off his dress. After the match, Oklahoma retaliated and struck Madusa with a glass bottle containing barbecue sauce. Oklahoma then disrobed Madusa to reveal her blue undergarments. With her mammoth breasts billowing out of a push-up bra, Oklahoma proceeded to pour the BBQ sauce down her mountainous cleavage. Oklahoma then kicked Madusa in the back and she fell to the floor outside the ring. She eventually lost the belt to Oklahoma at WCW Souled Out in January 16, 2000. During her reign, Madusa would only defend the WCW Cruiserweight Title on television on two other occasions. She defeated Asya on the first edition of WCW Thunder of 2000. She also defeated a male plant on the January 15, 2000 edition of WCW Saturday Night. Madusa would also defeat Sherri Martel in a non-title match on Thunder.
