Rachel Dubois - Classic Ladies Wrestling

One of the most popular female wrestlers here on this blog is classic pro wrestler Rachel Dubois.
Though she only wrestled for a few years, this five foot four beauty made an impression on a lot of people.
Rachel was trained by her step-father Dave McKigney and made her wrestling debut in 1969 at the age of 15.

Barbara Nichols v Belle Starr - Vintage Women's Wrestling

I think that Barbara Nichols was actually a young Joyce Grable aka Joyce Fowler.
Belle Starr was Patricia A. Onaindia, who was married to Juan Onaindia aka El Gaucho and Masked Medic #2 among many other ring names.
I also think this was a match in South Carolina that Belle won.

Phantom - Women of Wrestling

Now here is one of the most unusual women I have profiled on this blog.
Lynnette Thredgold was "Phantom" on David McLaine's Women of Wrestling (WOW!) wrestling promotion.
Not only that, but Lynnette was also a bodybuilder and a concert violinist.
And she did all three of them pretty darn well!

Ann Casey - Female Wrestler

This is the third time that the lovely Ann Casey has shown up on this blog.
For one reason, she is pretty popular here.
And for another reason, she is one of my favorites.

Ann Casey - Female Wrestler

Class, style, beauty and she was a whirlwind in the ring.
And yes she was one of the premier barefoot women wrestlers.

Ann Casey - pro wrestling women

These pictures show that even before the WWE's "Attitude Era", there were women wrestlers out there that were just drop dead gorgeous, and Ann was one of them.
Sorry these pictures are a little blurry, but they are the best I could do.

Ann Casey - Barefoot Women Wrestlers

One of the greatest barefoot women wrestlers of all time is Ann Casey.
(Okay, she was one of the greatest wrestlers period)
Ann was born on September 29th, 1938 in Saraland, Alabama.

Of course I dont just think she was one of the greatest because she is my friend on Facebook.
She really was.
I remember seeing the old wrestling magazines as a kid and the leopard print one piece swimsuit being burned into my memory.
She wore other things, but I remember that vividly for some reason.

In 2004 Ann was inducted into the Cauliflower Alley Club as an Honoree and she was the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Girl Wrestler of the Year in 1975.
During her career she held the NWA United States Women's Championship, the USA Women's Wrestling Championship, the Southern States Ladies Championship and the Mississippi State Ladies Championship.

The Magnificent Mimi vs Bambi - Ladies Wrestling

Last time I mentioned when Heels were Heels.
A good example of that was the Magnificent Mimi.
Mimi was absolutely gorgeous.
And she could be mean as a snake.
I pretty much guarantee she could reduce any of today’s "Divas" to tears in a few minutes.
A little biting, stomping, eye gouging and hair pulling would have the perfectly coiffed "Total Divas" begging for mercy.

Mimi vs Bambi-fingerlock-test of strength

Here she is up against her exact opposite, Bambi.
Bambi was a Face, but she could brawl if she had to.
She preferred to punish her opponents with wrestling hold though.
You don’t get to see ladies like this in the ring any more.

Reby Sky vs Ivelisse

Reby Sky vs Ivelisse

Here is a match posted by Reby Sky on YouTube with Reby Sky taking on Ivelisse for FWE Wrestling in Brooklyn, NY.
If you recognize the female voice commentating it's because that is former WWE Diva and TNA Knockout Katarina (Katie Lea/Winter)

These are just the highlights, but you can see the full match here:

Niya - Indy Female Wrestling

Niya Barela is a female indy wrestler that works for World Xtreme Wrestling and Shine Wrestling.
She was trained at Afa Anoa'i's Wild Samoan Pro Wrestling Training Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania where Batista, Chris Kanyon, Billy Kidman, Gene Snitsky, Umaga and Rosey were all trained.
She also trained at Team Taz Dojo and she made her wrestling debut in 2009.

Niya was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico and is five foot, three inches tall and weighs 132 pounds.
Stats like that harken back to the "old days" of wrestling when not all the women wrestlers looked like fitness models.
Besides Niya, she has wrestled as Ezavel Suena, Niya Verino, Princess Niya and Niya Barela.
