Vintage Women's Wrestling

Vintage Women's Wrestling

Well evidently all these old pictures of women's wrestling from the 50s, 60s and 70s has offended Google.
They have deemed this page, "Adult: Sexual Content" even though these ladies are fully clothed and are wrestling
in public in matches for various legitimate wrestling promotions.
Obviously one piece swimsuits are way more provocative than WWE Divas wrestling
in next to nothing.
So I took this article down.
Sorry about that.

Jeannie Clark aka Lady Blossom

I did a couple of write ups (here and here) about Jeannie Clark aka Lady Blossom, back in 2007.
Well she was known as Lady Blossom and also Jeannie Adams and Jeannie Clark Williams.
Why?

Jeannie Clark aka Lady Blossom
Yep...that's Stone Cold Steve Austin and Lady Blossom

Like Debra and later Karen Angle/Jarrett, Jeannie seemed to really love wrestlers.
Jeannie loved three of them ("Gentleman" Chris Adams, Billy Jack Haynes and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin).

Her relationship with Chris and Stone Cold led to a feud that would make Vince McMahon weep with joy, where Jeannie and her then current husband Steve would take on her ex-husband Chris and his then current wife Toni Adams.
Wow.

Bonesaw Jessie Brook - Women of Wrestling

Bonesaw Jessie Brook - Women of Wrestling

This is five foot four, 120 pound female wrestler "Bonesaw" Jessie Brook.
Jessie was trained by the Shimmer Wrestling Academy (she was Daizee Haze's third student) and has worked for Shimmer and Pro Wrestling Respect.
I think she made her pro wrestling debut on June 6, 2010 at Pro Wrestling RESPECT 3, but I'm not 100% sure.
It looks like she often tag teams with another favorite on here, Mia Yim.

MsChif Puts Batman To Shame

Here is one of the coolest things in the world of female wrestling... to me at least.
Since most of the women that wrestle for the Indy wrestling promotions have full time jobs in addition to wrestling, you never know who you may run into in the street that you may have seen in the ring.

Case in point, the crazy, psychotic, "Your Soul's Tormentor" MsChif is actually Rachel Collins, who in real life, is a microbiologist.
Yes, Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent would take a back seat to this ladies dual identity.

First, here is MsChif in all her glory freaking out Candice LaRae...

Now here is Rachel Collins freaking ME out on NOVA - The Secret Life of Scientists and Engineers... See? MsChif Puts Batman To Shame, posted to http://womensprowrestling.blogspot.com/ on January 5th, 2011

Becky Bayless, Christina Von Erie and Katie Lea at TNA

female wrestling-womens wrestling

A couple of Indy wrestlers have gotten try-outs at TNA lately.
As I mentioned last time, Becky Bayless and Rob Eckos are supposed to be doing a parody of "Jersey Shore" stars Snooki and The Situation, and Becky was teamed with Kazuchika Okada in a Dark Match.
Well it seems the try-out dark match didn't go too well.
Becky and Okada took on Shannon Moore and Christina Von Erie in a mixed tag-team match that was called by some "the worst dark match in history."

Lucha Libre fans may have seen Christina working for the Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) wrestling promotion in Mexico.

In other good news, Katie Lea had a tryout with TNA as well.
If you have read this blog for long, you know I had my eye on Katie way back in July of 2007 when she just got to the States.
Kat had a tryout match with former Knockouts Champion, Madison Rayne using the name Katie Larue.
By all accounts that match went very well.

Becky Bayless to TNA

Well as pretty much everybody and their brother are reporting, TNA has signed Becky Bayless to a contract.
She had a try-out match last week, and now the number two wrestling promotion has signed both Becky and Rob Eckos as a parody of "Jersey Shore" stars Snooki and The Situation.
Becky's ring name is rumored to be "Cookie"...like "Snooki"....get it?
Although Becky is way better looking than her MTV counterpart.

Becky (whose real name is Rebecca Treston) was born on February 3rd, 1982, and made her wrestling debut in 2002.
She was trained by Ring of Honor (ROH) and TNA star Homicide.

Becky has worked for wrestling promotions like Ring of Honor, Wrestlicious, Women's Extreme Wrestling, Full Impact Pro and Shimmer Women Athletes.

Sara Jay - Professional Wrestling News

Sara Jay - Professional Wrestling

I haven't done anything on Sara Jay in awhile.
The five foot tall, 110 pound beauty came in at number 1 on the G.L.O.R.Y. Hot 100 on June 20th, 2010.

And I also found this video on YouTube (that I could have sworn I had posted here before) of Sara wrestling another of my favorites, Juliet "The Huntress" for the GALLI Lucha Libre wrestling promotion.

You can keep up with Sara at her MySpace page here:

Updates on Juliet "The Huntress"

I haven't done anything on the lovely female wrestler Juliet "the Huntress" in awhile, so here's some more stuff about her.
You may recall that Juliet was nice enough to do an interview with me over at my Beautiful Women of Wrestling blog, so of course that elevates her in my eyes.
But this young lady has the look, talent and charisma that makes you wonder why TNA or the WWE haven't snatched her up yet.

Female Wrestling - Sara Jay

I don't know if Sara Jay took the snake to the ring ala Jake Roberts, or if this is just a promo for Snakepit Pro Wrestling...

We seem to have an influx of Australian female wrestlers on here, and here is another, Sara Jay.
This beautiful young lady was born on May 11th in Warwick, Australia.
She may only stand 5 feet tall and weigh in at 110 pounds, but this is a lot of fight in her, as she takes on both female and male wrestlers.

Sara has held the WCWA Junior Girls Championship, the MIW Womens belt, the NAW Womens Championship and the WWC Womens title.

She has worked for Riot City Wrestling, PWWA, Ultimate Wrestling Alliance, PWA QLD, Snakepit Pro Wrestling, PWA Elite, MIW, Nightmare Wrestling, IWA, PWA Underground and AAW in Australia and World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico.

Female Wrestlers Before They Were Stars, Part 4

Now for the last three female wrestlers from the TNA Knockout roster......

Taylor Wilde
Shantelle Malawski started wrestling in June 2003.
Before TNA, she was featured in the two-part wrestling documentary, Slam Bam, which aired on the Discovery Channel.
Taylor wrestled for New Vision Pro Wrestling, she did a a three-show tour of South Africa, she wrestled in Monterrey, Mexico, Shimmer Women Athletes, Ring Divas' Battle Angels, Twin Wrestling Entertainment, Blood Sweat and Ears, Deep South Wrestling, Women Superstars Uncensored and Pure Wrestling Association in Southern Ontario.

Traci Brooks
Tracy Brookshaw had a long career in wrestling before TNA.
She made her pro wrestling debut in January 2001 as "Tracy Brooks".
Traci has wrestled for Border City Wrestling, the Apocalypse Wrestling Federation (where she had a feud with Gail Kim who was then billed as La Felina), Blood Sweat and Ears, NWA Cyberspace, 3X Wrestling, All Star Championship Wrestling, Coastal Championship Wrestling, Downsouth Championship Wrestling, Great Lakes Championship Wrestling, New Ohio Championship Wrestling, Southern Championship Wrestling and World Xtreme Wrestling.

Velvet Sky
Jamie Szantyr has wrestled under the names Velvet Sky (for TNA), Talia Madison, Miss Talia, Talia Doll and Talia.
Even though this young lady might look like a model, she has wrestled for Defiant Pro Wrestling, Georgia Wrestling Alliance, TNT Pro Wrestling, Universal Wrestling Association, Women's Extreme Wrestling and World Xtreme Wrestling besides TNA.
Plus she has held five womens wrestling titles and one tag team title.

So why did I do this?
To show the lack of depth in the WWE Diva roster as opposed to the TNA Knockout roster?
Yeah, a little.
It annoys me that with so much talent out there, the biggest company in wrestling feels like it needs to pull in models and dancers to fill it's ranks.

But it's also to show you that when you go out to these indy wrestling promotions and watch these ladies performing, you may be seeing the female wrestling superstars of tomorrow.
I cannot stress enough how much these young ladies put on the line every week just to do what they love, and give the people a good show.
Their lineage goes back to Mildred Burke, June Byers and the other great pioneers of women's wrestling.

UK Female Wrestler - Faith Diva Lehaine

Moving on with my female wrestling list, we have a young lady that works in the UK, but was born in my home state.
Faith Diva Lehaine was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, but she has made her name in wrestling promotions in Great Britain.
Besides being a female wrestler, she is also a dancer, singer and actress.
Faith started out as a valet and manager, but she has gotten into the wrestling ring enough to win the UCW Women's Championship three times.

I usually post a couple of links where you can keep up with the female wrestlers I profile here, and Faith really seems to know how to keep in contact with her fans.

You can follow her on Twitter here:
http://twitter.com/FaithLehaine

And also keep up with her on Facebook here:

Hopefully one day we will see her in wrestling here in the US.

Female Wrestling: Tenille

Female Wrestling: Tenille

Melbourne, Australia native Tenille Dashwood is another Aussie poised to make a dent in the female wrestling scene.
She is known as Tenille Tayla in Australia and simply Tenille in North American promotions.
This young lady was bitten by the wrestling bug at the age of 10, and decided pro wrestling way the way she wanted to go.
After she graduated high school, she took some business management courses at a university, but wrestling was what was on her mind.

So she traveled to Calgary, Alberta, and attended Lance Storm's Wrestling Academy.
She trained there for three months before moving back to Australia and getting into the wrestling scene there.
After wrestling there for a bit, she and fellow Aussie Jessie McKay caught the atttention of SHIMMER promoter Dave Prazak (via Sara Del Rey who worked with Tenille in Australia) and she was soon in the US making her debut in SHIMMER.

Besides SHIMMER, Tenille has worked for PWA Queensland, PWA Australia, SWA Newcastle, Nightmare Wrestling, Pro Wrestling eKlipse and Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling (ECCW).

Miss Elizabeth

Although not really a wrestler, Miss Elizabeth had a big impact on female wrestling.
Just check around with some of the female wrestlers of today, and you'll see that she was a role model for a lot of them.

Elizabeth Ann Hulette was born on November 19th, 1960 in Frankfort, Kentucky.
While she was working for International Championship Wrestling, an independent professional wrestling promotion based in Lexington, Kentucky, she met Randall Poffo, better known now as "Macho Man" Randy Savage.(ICW was run by the father of Macho Man, Angelo Poffo)
The two married on December 30, 1984, and Randy went to work for the WWF soon after.
On the August 24, 1985, edition of WWF Prime Time Wrestling, Miss Elizabeth officially debuted as the manager of the Macho Man.
She became integral to the story lines with Randy, but she always maintained a sense of style and class.
Even when she once ripped off her skirt to revel a red bikini bottom that distracted André the Giant and Ted DiBiase, allowing Hulk Hogan and the Macho Man to win a match at the very first SummerSlam.
Except for a few small catfights with the late Sherri Martel, Elizabeth didn't do much in the ring except advance the story lines in the WWF.

In the WCW however, Elizabeth wrestled in her first official match against Daffney on May 8, 2000.
After that, she competed in a few matches against Rhonda Singh and Madusa.

On August 17, 2000, WCW released Elizabeth from her contract.

Miss Elizabeth passed away on May 1, 2003.

Besides Randy Savage, she managed Hulk Hogan, Lex Luger, Sting, Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair and Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake.

The WWE has a nice Alumni page about Elizabeth here:

Wrestlin Wally's Wide World of Women's Wrestling

Okay, Now I'm gonna take a minute off doing entries on female wrestlers and do something I rarely do.
Gush about another site.
I have run into Wrestlin Wally's work now and then on the web, and I was delighted to see that he has his own wrestling website.
Its called Wrestlin Wally's Wide World of Women's Wrestling.
If you like really good, close up candid shots of the ladies of Indy wrestling, you really need to check him out.
We're not talking long distance fuzzy pics you can barely make out here.
This is really good, great even, close up pics and action shots.
Wally really needs to think about a "coffee table book" kinda like what Theo Ehret did.
Wally's work is not only good, but it captures the look and feel of these beautiful ladies plying their trade.
And no Wally's not paying me to write this...LOL.
But if you wanna read up to date info and see the latest pics of these beautiful ladies of wrestling, head over to his site.
And just think how much better the WWE Diva's section or TNA's Knockouts would look with Wally doing the pics.
So head on over to http://www.wrestlinwally.com/ and look around.
You won't be disappointed.

Su Yung - Female Wrestling

Su Yung was born in Seattle, Washington.
But when the wrestling bug bit her, she moved to Memphis, Tennessee.
When she got there, she hooked up with Hub City Wrestling Training ran by Bill Dundee and Kevin White.
The rest may be history, because I see a lot of potential in this young lady.
