Magnificent Ladies Wrestling - MLW Wrestling

I haven't done anything on the female wrestling promotion MLW since 2009.
Of course back then when I did it, they were called Memphis Ladies Wrestling, but they changed that to Magnificent Ladies Wrestling.
I checked out their website and their roster seems to have grown quite a bit since my last visit.

Right now their Champions are running like this...

    http://www.facebook.com/RobMyersPhotography

World Heavyweight Champion
Melanie Cruise

World Tag Team Champions
Brandi Wine (and I'm guessing someone else...the website only lists her though so you never know...)

World Light Heavyweight Champion
Million Dollar Baby

They just had a taping on December 1st, 2012 that featured women wrestlers like Claudia Del Solis, April Hunter, BB, Allison Danger, Barbi Hayden, Nikki Lane, Brandi Wine, Rebecca Lynn, Barbi Hayden, Allison Danger, Leah Von Dutch, Athena, Kissey and many (many) more.

They are having another taping on January 19th, 2012 that will feature BB, Brandi Wine, Diane Von Hoffman, Melanie Cruise, Misty James, Taylor Made  and a whole lot more.

You can find out more about MLW at their website here:

Jeannie Clark aka Lady Blossom

I did a couple of write ups (here and here) about Jeannie Clark aka Lady Blossom, back in 2007.
Well she was known as Lady Blossom and also Jeannie Adams and Jeannie Clark Williams.
Why?

Jeannie Clark aka Lady Blossom
Yep...that's Stone Cold Steve Austin and Lady Blossom

Like Debra and later Karen Angle/Jarrett, Jeannie seemed to really love wrestlers.
Jeannie loved three of them ("Gentleman" Chris Adams, Billy Jack Haynes and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin).

Her relationship with Chris and Stone Cold led to a feud that would make Vince McMahon weep with joy, where Jeannie and her then current husband Steve would take on her ex-husband Chris and his then current wife Toni Adams.
Wow.

Heidi Lee Morgan - Womens Pro Wrestling

Remember female wrestler Heidi Lee Morgan?
She worked for a lot of wrestling promotions in the late 80s and early 90s like the WWF, International World Class Championship Wrestling, LPWA and the National Wrestling Federation.
Besides the US, she also wrestled in Europe, South America and Japan.

During her career she held the LPWA Tag Team Championship (with Misty Blue Simmes), the IWCCW Women's Championship and the WWWA Woman's Championship (twice).

Barefoot Women Wrestlers

Something you don't see a lot these days...come to think of it ever....is barefoot female wrestlers.
Of course back in the day you had lots of them that I can remember.

Anne Casey-Barefoot Women Wrestlers

Ann Casey, Vicki Williams, Judy Grable, Velvet MacIntyre, Miss Mona (Molly Holly when she was in the WCW), even Jungle Grrl from GLOW.
But these days that seems to be a thing of the past.
I guess maybe it has to do with safety concerns, but Ann and Vicki seemed to do alright for themselves.

Miss Mitzi Mueller - UK Female Wrestling

Interestingly, the most popular woman wrestler of all time on this blog isn't a WWE Diva, a TNA Knockout or even an Indy wrestler.
It's legendary UK female grappler Miss Mitzi Mueller.
Or Miss Mitzi Muller...or Miss Mitzie Muller...I see it spelled a lot of different ways.
She's so popular I even wrote up a Hub about her.

BTW...I ran across the picture above first at a blog called Assorted Thoughts From An Unsorted Mind.
The blog has a lot of stuff there and a lot of vintage UK and Japan female wrestling pics so you may want to go check it out.

Former TNA Knockouts Angelina Love and Velvet Sky

Why are former TNA Knockouts Angelina Love and Velvet Sky on this blog that is basically devoted to Old School wrestlers and Indy wrestlers?
Well until they sign with someone (probably the WWE) they are free agents.
Of course it wouldn't hurt me a bit to see them in the WWE as The Beautiful People again...well it would hurt me because I know the WWE would somehow take a sure thing like that and screw it up.

TNA Knockouts Angelina Love and Velvet Sky

According to NorthEast Wrestling, Velvet and Angelina will be appearing at their "Wrestling Under The Stars" event on September 22nd, 2012.
You can find out more and get tickets here:
http://northeastwrestling.com/

And http://www.twnpnews.com/ is reporting that both Velvet and Angelina will be at Sideline Sports at the Middletown Market 128 Dolson Ave. Middletown, New York on October 7th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

So I am happy they are appearing together and showing up at Indy pro wrestling promotions.

Lita aka Amy Dumas aka Miss Congeniality

Wanna go way back in female wrestling's past?
Well here is former WWE Diva Lita aka Amy Dumas when she was Miss Congeniality (and later Angelica) back in the ECW.
Okay it seems like a long time ago to me...but you know it was 1999...that was only 13 years ago, so Amy must have been about 24 in this pic.
She looks younger.

Lita aka Amy Dumas aka Miss Congeniality

Of course when Amy joined ECW, she had already been working for wrestling promotions like Empresa Mexicana de la Lucha Libre in Mexico, Maryland Championship Wrestling (MCW) and NWA Mid-Atlantic.

Before Daffney There Was Luna Vachon...

In the last post I was talking about how I loved the psycho female wrestlers and I mentioned Daffney as being the first.
But before Daffney debuted in 1999, the late Gertrude Elizabeth "Trudy" Vachon was being crazy before crazy was cool as Luna Vachon.

    www.wwe.com

A member of the legendary French-Canadian wrestling family, the Vachons, Gertrude wanted to wrestle.
Her whole family (and her godfather Andre The Giant) tried to convince her not too but she wouldn't take no for an answer.
Finally they gave in and her aunt Vivian and later The Fabulous Moolah trained her.

She started out in Florida Championship Wrestling, as part of Kevin Sullivan's Army of Darkness stable teaming up with The Lock as the Daughters of Darkness.
Luna then went on to work for the WWF, ECW, the Indy Circuit and WCW.
Luna passed away on August 27, 2010 from an "accidental overdose of oxycodone and benzodiazepine".
